Overview

Located in the heart of Armadale, Neighbourhood Pizza embodies the spirit of a modern Italian eatery with a focus on quality and ambiance. Nestled at 20 Beatty Ave, this restaurant offers an intimate yet lively setting, perfectly suited for both casual family lunches and relaxed evening dinners.

The menu is thoughtfully curated, balancing beloved traditional Italian dishes with contemporary twists. Highlights include the Prawn Linguini, which showcases a fresh, vibrant seafood profile, and the array of artisanal pizzas. From classics like Margherita and Capricciosa to bold choices such as the Chilli Prawn and Spicy Saliccia, each pizza features a deft hand at dough and topping harmony. Notably, the kitchen accommodates gluten-free options for both pasta and pizza, reflecting a considerate approach toward dietary preferences.

Starters like the Calamari Fritti and Burrata with Confit Cherry Tomatoes stand out for their freshness and restraint, setting the tone for well-crafted mains such as the Tuscan Cacciucco and the perfectly pan-seared barramundi. Desserts, including a generous tiramisu, round out the menu with satisfying finishes.

The space itself merges cozy charm with modern sophistication—moody interiors accompanied by classic jazz create an inviting vibe. The outdoor seating area adds a Mediterranean flair, enhanced by large umbrellas and soft lighting, making it an excellent spot for relaxed gatherings. Service tends to be attentive and friendly, though some guests have noted that the dining experience is time-limited, a factor that might influence longer visits.

Neighbourhood Pizza appeals most to diners seeking authentic Italian flavors in a personable, local setting. Its item selection and atmosphere balance well between intimacy and social energy, catering to small groups, families, and pizza aficionados alike. The wine list, including commendable options such as a robust Chianti Reserva, complements the dishes well, elevating the overall experience.

While some patrons have expressed mild reservations regarding seating duration and the absence of a coffee or tea offering, these are minor considerations against a broadly positive culinary experience. For those in Melbourne’s southeast looking for a neighborhood spot that delivers consistently flavorful dishes and a warm ambiance, Neighbourhood Pizza stands as a reliable and charming choice.

One of the best Pizzas ever. Very good Chianti Reserva. Service was great but we were only afforded the table for 90 minutes which meant we finished our drinks outside in the rain. Not ideal.

We had a lovely family lunch here. It's small but very cosy with charming decor. The menu is also concise, but everything on it is to the highest standard. Between us we tried a few starters and nearly all of the pastas, all delicious and generously portioned. The pizzas are also great, with gluten free options for both pizza and pasta. Good wine, very friendly and attentive staff, highly recommend.

April 2025: Food - ordered the following: Calamari to share as a starter - very tender and tasty. Lamb Ragu gnocchi - nice but a bit too much tomato in the sauce. Sausage rigatoni - this was delicious and one of the best i've tasted. Potato pizza with added pancetta - this is a very expensive pizza (i.e. a few potato pieces and ham) and would honestly cost around $3 to make but in any event it was a good size and tasty with a very nice base, just very overpriced. Barramundi - very nice but would do with the addition of a potato or a grain to add a small amount of carbs. Tiramisu for dessert - HUGE portion size and very nice. Atmosphere - modern and inviting. Service - very attentive and friendly but we were told numerous times we had a 1hr45m slot and that was it which was off-putting especially on a Sunday night. Will return. June 2025: Disappointing experience due to being constantly reminded that we had a 1.5hr booking and the people we were eating with were running late. Ordered two Pizzas, a pasta and the mixed seafood. All very nice but staff overly pushy about getting us out. A 1.5hr session for 4 people is not long enough. Also they don't serve coffee or tea which is frustrating so we had to drive all the way to oakleigh to get a coffee/tea after the meal.

Great dinner! Absolutely delicious pasta and pizza, and well priced for a nice meal. Absolutely lovely staff members. The seating time being 1h30 was a little shorter than I would have liked but I do understand this. Would definitely go back!!!

Vibe & Seating • Atmosphere: Lively and popular. • Seating Tip: If you prefer a quieter experience, try to get a table in the back area or outside. The middle section, near the kitchen, can be very noisy. The Food: Highlights & What to Skip We ordered a wide variety, and there were some definite standouts! Must-Try Starters • Focaccia: Really, really good! Highly recommend. • Rocket Salad: Huge and excellent value—easily large enough for 3-4 people to share as a side. • Burrata: A nice addition to the starters. Pizza • Lamb Pizza: Protein-rich and very tasty. • Vodka Pizza: Tasty and slightly different, a great choice if you want something a bit unconventional. • Potato Pizza: [Suggestion: Consider deleting this or changing to a clearer critique if it was truly bad.] I would recommend skipping this one. Pasta • Vodka Pasta: Very tasty, though the portion is not gigantic. • Bolognese: Tasty and a large portion, but perhaps not the most interesting dish on the menu. Insider Tip • Ask for the Chilli Oil! It’s great and really elevates the flavor of the pizzas and sides. Service • Great service—friendly and attentive.

Really enjoyed our time here. Got the spicy sausage pizza and the vodka pasta. Both were absolutely delicious and I cannot wait to come back and try the other things on the menu.
